Tiger Woods has acknowledged that he has not been able to sleep well because of a complicated three-day period during which he broke off his relationship with Lindsey Vonn and also coincided with the anniversary of his father’s death.
Last Sunday, Woods and the Olympic skiing champion announced the end of their three-year relationship due to a complicated schedule for both. That day marked nine years since Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, passed away.
Woods notes that that three-day window, Sunday through Tuesday – the anniversary of his dad’s funeral – is a “brutal” period for him. And he commented that the breakup with Vonn is an added burden.
He noted that he felt tired and out of rhythm after a nine-hole practice round at The Players Championship.
Woods won the last tournament he participated in at TPC Sawgrass in 2013. Last year he did not participate while recovering from back surgery.
Tiger’s goal is to forget as soon as possible his horrible start to the year, when he missed the cut in Phoenix and withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open. The Masters at Augusta, with a 17th place finish and two rounds under 70, has given him a certain optimism that he now wants to continue to nurture. His intention is to focus on the game and play as many tournaments as possible, including the three majors remaining in the season.
