The PGA of Europe’s annual congress, based at the Vila Galé Lagos Hotel in Portugal’s Algarve region, with more than 30 nationalities represented at the event, has honored Tony Jacklin as a European Golf Hero.
The four-day conference, which was held in conjunction with the International Championship at Onyria Palmares Beach and Golf Resort, featured speakers such as PGA of Europe Director and former European Tour CEO Ken Schofield, who spoke about his experience in 19 Ryder Cups; European Golf Association Secretary General Richard Heath, who detailed the EGA’s own strategic plan; player Tony Jacklin; and PGA of Europe CEO Ian Randell.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went this year to four-time European Ryder Cup captain and multiple Major winner Tony Jacklin for his successes and efforts in promoting the sport and for being one of the catalysts in the development of European golf to what it is today.
