Real Club Valderrama has been chosen as the best golf course in Spain for the fifth consecutive year by the users of the website leadingcourses.com. The rankings are compiled on the basis of comments from golfers from all over Europe (the website registers 350,000 visits per month). The comments cover numerous aspects that influence the quality of the club, such as the course itself, overall impression of the club, maintenance, practice facilities, clubhouse and perceived value for money.
The Cadiz club, venue of the 1997 Ryder Cup, two American Express World Championships, sixteen editions of the Volvo Masters, two Andalucía Valderrama Masters and one Open de España, among other tournaments, has obtained an average rating of 9.16.
Valderrama is not an easy course, nor was it meant to be. It is designed to think every shot through and be very precise in trying to come out on top of the challenge. The course was designed in 1974 by the legendary Robert Trent Jones senior, one of the best golf architects of all time. Finca Cortesin has maintained its second place in the ranking of Best Golf Club in Spain, with a rating of 9.09 given by the users of Leadingcourses.com, while the third in this ranking is the Real Golf de Pedreña in Cantabria, with a rating of 8.96.
