The Real Club Valderrama, which in September will host a new edition of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, was the setting for the fifth round of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe. The repeatedly recognized over the years as the best golf course in continental Europe tested the skill and temper of the players, in a splendid weather and sports day. As usual in the Tour, the places available to play the tournament were sold out several days in advance.
The course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones looked spectacular, as always, with perfect fairways and greens. Competing in such an iconic setting, the scene of memorable Ryder Cup duels , American Express World Championships, Volvo Masters, Open de España and Andalucía Masters, is a luxury that leaves no golfer indifferent.
The Open Amateur Circuit organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf/España Golf celebrates its tenth edition this year, and again, as in the previous two editions, with a grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean by Grupo Piñero. Apart from the prizes of each tournament (premium branded clothing from the fairway+blue store in Puerto Banús, D.O. Somontano wines, Holiday Golf sports equipment, etc.), the first three classified in each category plus the scratch winner get a place to play the grand final of the Circuit (Atalaya Old, November 21) and thus opt for one of the prizes. five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic, including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf in the Dominican Republic. three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada..
In the first category, the first three classified were Juan Castro Rodríguez (37 points), Santiago Ríos Rubio (36) and Alejandro Martínez Arasso (35). Helios Otero Díaz and Francisco Javier García Marín qualified for the grand final together with Juan Castro, since Santiago Ríos had qualified for the final in a previous tournament of the Circuit and Alejandro Martínez was scratch winner in Valderrama, so he obtained in this way a place for the grand final. It is worth mentioning the performance of Nicolás Alexander Otero da Gama, a minor (not entitled to a prize) who finished fourth.
The first three classified in second category were, in this order, the following: Sebastian Vidal Lopez-Burgos (41 points), Flavio Cassina (39) and Victor Ceballos Niebla (38). The three of them obtained a place for the grand final of the Circuit.
The scratch winner was Alejandro Martínez Arasso, who tied on 25 points with Francisco Javier García Marín.
As for special prizes, the closest ball to the flag went to Manuel Saura and the longest drive went to Manuel Saura and the longest drive award went to Helios Otero.
The next two appointments of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are the 25th in Santa Clara Marbella and the 29th of July in San Roque New Course.
