Valle Romano Golf has been hosting some exceptional guests since January 19th. The soccer team FC Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk, which plays in the first division of Ukrainian soccer and has 4 titles in its trophy cabinet, trains next to the Mediterranean until next February 4th. The communication team of Valle Romano has shared a few minutes with Juan de Ramos, coach of FC Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk at present and backed by extensive experience as a coach in teams like CSKA Moscow, Sevilla FC and Real Madrid. Juan de Ramos was born in Pedro Ruiz, Ciudad Real, where since 2007 there is a stadium named after him. He began his career at the age of 8 when he moved to Elche and for the next 20 years he played as a footballer in different teams until he changed direction to become a coach.
Valle Romano- Your team is in Estepona to prepare for the winter session. What made you choose a warm place to train a team used to the cold?
J.R.- In Ukraine it is now 10-20 degrees below zero and with those temperatures it is impossible to work outdoors to be in shape when the league starts. The Spanish coast is full of soccer teams from cold countries training here. Hole 10 has become the ideal space for the players to warm up, under the watchful eye of Juan de Ramos and the team of coaches who accompany him. After 90 minutes of cardiovascular exercises the team continues its training at the Impat soccer facilities in Marbella.
V.R.-Have you ever coached a soccer team on a golf course? What does a golf course have that a soccer field doesn’t have for training? J.R.- Yes, we always train on golf courses. Because the course is perfect for the physical session. Good terrain for running with undulations, flats and slopes. Then we prepare the technical and tactical part on a soccer field.
V.R.-How has the experience of training at Valle Romano Golf been? What have you liked the most about Valle Romano these days?
J.R.- The facilities in Valle Romano are exemplary. I would highlight the good conditions of the course, and the great collaboration of the whole team, especially the management. I am very grateful because the days we are here the work is going perfectly thanks to their collaboration.
