“We have designed an exclusive offer so golfers can enjoy living at one of the Costa del Sol’s finest golf courses”

Valle Romano Golf & Resort has launched an exclusive product for golfers, incorporating golf and real estate – at very attractive prices. According to Oscar Almau, marketing manager of the resort, located in Estepona in the heart of the Costa del Sol, this offer includes the opportunity to buy a home at Valle Romano and enjoy free family rights for 10 years.

What is Valle Romano’s main strength in the market?

–At Valle Romano we have a very well balanced product as far as price, size, surroundings, specifications and quality are concerned. This is a resort, with a golf course of the highest category, and we are well known for our prices. All of this has been well received among our varied portfolio of clients: local, national and international.

However, we are now taking another step forward, providing added value to the various factors that already make our product so attractive. We have launched a new offer that is proving to be a great success. It involves incorporating golf as a key element in buying a home in the resort.

What does this involve?

–There is a growing number of golfers in Spain and this initiative has been created for them. It means golf lovers can enjoy living at one of the Costa del Sol’s finest golf courses. This exclusive offer for golfers includes the opportunity of buying a house at Valle Romano and enjoying free family rights for 10 years. It covers their partner, and children under 23 years. Clients taking up the offer will save the cost of golfing rights, valued at approximately e30,000, and will only have to pay a minimum of e10 when they play a round.

What are the main aspects of the offer?

–We believe it is an irresistible offer for golfers. They can choose between three different urbanisations, with one and two-bedroom apartments. All have extraordinary views over the fairways, sea and mountain range. There is no other comparable offer on the market: in buying a home for e160,000, the whole family can play golf almost for free.

How has it been received among golfers?

–It is having a significant impact. We have arranged a lot of visits, and as a result we have had to expand our sales team and office opening hours. We currently have the office open all week, from Monday to Sunday.

What is the profile of a buyer who plays golf?

–Our range of products includes two-bedroom apartments from e128,000. However, the apartments that include free golfing rights are in a particularly privileged position, with extraordinary views. The price is slightly higher, from e160,000. They are more aimed at people buying a second home, so these clients tend to have higher earning power.

Valle Romano also has a significant presence on the social networks. What is the reasoning behind that?

–We began working in that area quite recently, but in a very committed way. We have two profiles on Facebook, one for the real estate and the other for the golf course. We see it as a tool to generate enthusiasm, one that will be useful in the longer term. We are pioneers in this respect. I don’t believe there are too many developers who have decided to break the barrier of fear related to social networking. At the moment, we want to use it as a new way of communicating with our friends and clients. They can use it in a completely free and transparent way to pass on their feelings about their stay at Valle Romano or time on the golf course.

What plans do you have in the short term?

–We have just been granted the first-occupation licence for the third phase of one of the urbanisations, Villa Borghese. This will enable us to start drawing up the title deeds soon. The first and second phases of this development already have these licences and have also formed their communities of owners – in fact, there have been people living there for nearly a year. We also obtained the firstoccupation licence for one of the other urbanisations, Capitolio, six months ago, and the title deeds are being drawn up for some of the apartments.

And the tourist apartments?

–One of the objectives this year is to make a start on the tourist apartments, grouped together in Flaminio. These 430 apartments will give added value to Valle Romano. Tourist apartments function in a similar way to hotels. There are various communal rooms and services and a reception area. The difference is that, instead of having a room, clients can enjoy an attractive 80 square metre apartment, with two bedrooms, a large kitchen, a large lounge room and a fantastic terrace, over 30 square metres with views of the golf course, the mountain range or the sea – and even all three.

We believe that, being on a golf course and so close to all the services of Estepona town, these apartments will attract a high volume of people coming here on holiday. And that will enable us to cultivate the loyalty of clients as possible future buyers.

Are they also envisaged as a form of investment?

–We believe this is an exceptional opportunity for investors, as there are tourist apartments from ?140,000. In addition to the benefits obtained from rentals, the advantage for investors is they can use the apartment for 45 days a year and the remainder of the time they hand it over to us to run.
