The list of managers awarded with this professional award has been extended in 2012 with the name of Javier Reviriego Bóveda, current general manager of Club de Golf Valderrama, in Cádiz. Once again this year the election has been made by direct vote of the managers affiliated to ClubManagerSpain. The other directors with the highest number of votes were Enrique Gil Octavio de Toledo (Real Club de Golf La Herrería) and Alfonso Gil Pérez (Lerma y Saldaña). Reviriego studied Business Administration at the University of Florida and furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Hospitality at Florida State and another in Management and Direction of Sports Entities in Barcelona.

His professional experience has taken him to several courses, from a training period at Seminole Golf and Country Club to the management of Finca Cortesín, passing through the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande and Fuerteventura Golf Resort, before joining the emblematic club of Valderrama.

Nevertheless, he has had time to collaborate as a speaker at international congresses and ClubManagerSpain courses; he is a full professor at Les Roches International School of Hotel Management; he has attended several editions of the World Conferences of the Club Managers Association of America; and he keeps abreast of developments in club management by being a member of the American Lodge and Lodging Association, the Club Manager Association of Europe and America, ClubManagerSpain and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

His constant eagerness for training and contact with his colleagues have been decisive to have received the majority of the votes of the managers affiliated to ClubManagerSpain.

The award is based on four criteria: the candidate’s prestige in his/her role as club manager; the candidate’s prestige in his/her dedication to the development of the profession, based on his/her collaboration with other managers or participation in activities outside the club for the benefit of the club-related industry; the improvement experienced by the clubs in whose management the candidate has participated; and the candidate’s length of service in the club management profession.
