With an area of 122 hectares, Valle Romano Golf & Resort has taken care of all the details, but especially the respect for the environment and the efficient use of energy resources.
In addition, it was the place chosen by important professional golfers, such as Seve Ballesteros, to live and play on its impressive 18-hole golf course, designed by Cabell B. Robinson.
The complex also has a Club House; a prestigious golf academy with bilingual teachers, a specialized store and a restaurant-cafeteria. It also has a shopping area and well-kept green spaces.
The golf course. Valle Romano has such characteristics that make it unique for its design, geographical location and for being a model of sustainability. Not only does it comply with current environmental regulations, but during its construction priority has been given to preserving the maximum area of vegetation, to serve as a refuge for native flora and fauna.
It is an exceptional 18-hole course, built according to the highest quality standards of the United States Golf Association of America, with “Tifsport” grass, certified by the University of Georgia, and with a very sophisticated irrigation system, with the latest technology.
Valle Romano is the brainchild of Cabell B. Robinson, one of the world’s leading golf course designers, whose projects include numerous prestigious courses in Spain, France, Morocco, Switzerland, Portugal, Cyprus and Italy.
This course is prepared to enter the European Tour, with fairways designed to adapt to players of all levels and greens of great amplitude. Robinson has designed a course that is located in the less steep area of the estate, which goes from elevation 1 16 to 50.
One of the objectives of this course is that all types of players can enjoy it, from the lowest to the highest handicaps. For this purpose, an average of 5 tee platforms have been built per hole and large greens with an average of 500 square meters, although they even reach 1,000 square meters. The greens, with gentle but very long slopes and a large number of flag positions, make every hole on the course easy or extremely difficult.
The fact that it is a course for all types of players, together with an excellent level of maintenance, good facilities, a privileged geographical location (from all the holes you can see the sea) and a high degree of commitment from all the staff involved in the project means that this course meets all the requirements for organizing any type of competition.
According to Ildefonso Esquivel, director of Valle Romano Golf, “the client who comes here repeats again and again, because he leaves satisfied and likes the course”.
Since September 2011, the Valle Romano Golf Facebook page has had a new online Green Fees reservation application. “The objective is to channel the number of Green Fees reservations through the Internet, taking advantage of the time users spend on our social networks,” says Ildefonso Esquivel. “Now the customer has a channel open for 24 hours to make their reservations comfortably at the time that suits them best.”

GOLF SCHOOL
The Valle Romano Golf Academy offers a wide variety of programs, which are adapted to the needs of both amateurs and beginners and with the application of the best programs and teaching techniques in the world of golf.
Golf professional Gabriel Cañizares is since September 2011 the new Technical Director of the Valle Romano Golf School. Cañizares supervises and advises the methodology and golf techniques taught to all students at the academy.
“It is an honor for me to be part of this project, and I will do everything in my power to make Valle Romano a reference within the golf offer in the Costa del Sol”, says Gabriel Cañizares.
The varied offer includes intensive one-week courses, specific putting and short game courses, VIP courses, clinics or private lessons, among others. Special attention is paid to juniors with monthly courses on Saturday mornings or intensive summer courses.
The entire practice area is illuminated, with indoor and grass stalls.
EQUIPMENT
Valle Romano Golf & Resort has equipped its facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, including 40 buggies with GPS, an ambulance buggy, a semi-automatic defibrillator and an intercom on hole 8 that connects to the Club House.
Buggies with GPS are a tool that serves both for the operation of the course itself, as well as for the players who make the tour in these vehicles.
Ildefonso Esquivel, manager of the field, says that the GPS “have been focused on two aspects: on the one hand, it is another touch of improvement in terms of the service we are providing with respect to our competitors and, on the other, it gives us a very specific day-to-day operational control”.
The ambulance buggy is an ideal vehicle for use in crowded events, sports stadiums, fairgrounds, factories, airports and golf courses. This ambulance car is equipped with lights, compartments for medical bags, electrocardiographs, drip stands, among other special requirements. It is powered by a four-stroke gasoline engine.
On the other hand, the semi-automatic defibrillator has been placed in a strategic location in the Clubhouse. It is a technical equipment approved for use in accordance with current legislation, capable of analyzing the heart rhythm, identifying fatal arrhythmias and administering an electric shock, in order to restore a viable rhythm, with high levels of safety. To guarantee its correct use, qualified personnel from Valle Romano have completed a course approved by the Junta de Andalucía for the use of semiautomatic external defibrillators by non-medical personnel in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
And finally, on the green of the 8th hole, a wooden booth with an intercom has been installed that connects directly to the restaurant and allows you to order a snack without interrupting play.
