The extraordinary attention to detail, care and effort that went into hosting the 2023 Solheim Cup on the stunning Finca Cortesin course has been spectacularly captured in a new short film that captures the epic duel between Europe and the United States.
The highlight came when our national heroine, Carlota Ciganda, holed the decisive putt for the European team in the afternoon sun last September, marking the close of years of meticulous preparations in all aspects of the course in southern Spain.

This eight-minute short film vividly presents the hard work that made possible the thrilling 14-14 draw that allowed Europe to retain the cup. It highlights the collaboration of the agronomy and maintenance teams, as well as the extensive operation by operations and media, as the world focused on the Cabell B Robinson-designed course.
The documentary reveals the intense and detailed effort that went into staging this biennial event, showing the perfectly manicured greens and fairways, the neatly organized bleachers and the public facilities, which allowed for festive interaction between players, fans and media.
Vicente Rubio, president of Finca Cortesin, shares in the documentary the great pride felt by both the resort and the local community at being chosen to host the biggest event in women’s team golf, as well as the immense sense of responsibility this entailed.
“For Finca Cortesín it was a great honor to host such an extraordinary event. We knew the world was watching. It was an incredible collective effort of many people in different areas that made an iconic and successful event possible. We are very proud to have contributed to writing a key chapter in the history of the Solheim Cup.
Ciganda’s decisive victory on the penultimate 17th hole against world No. 1 Nelly Korda will go down as a memorable moment of the tournament. The United States reclaimed the trophy at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia in September of this year, and the event will return to Europe in 2026.
The Solheim Cup legacy at the resort continues to grow stronger, and the documentary highlights Finca Cortesin’s commitment to advancing women’s golf and its position as one of the world’s most exclusive and aspirational destinations.
