Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort tournament: San Miguel XVI Andalucía Golf Challenge report

The Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort tournament was held on 15 August as a new leg of the SAN MIGUEL XVI CIRCUITO ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE COSTA DEL SOL DESTINO REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA BY GLOBALIA, with Cervezas San Miguel as title sponsor, on a day of golf marked by greens in perfect condition and very little wind on one of Robert Trent Jones’ designs on the Costa del Sol.

The layout at Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, a genuine golf test with very varied holes and a course with plenty of movement and great strategic demand, hosted a new date on the SAN MIGUEL XVI CIRCUITO ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE COSTA DEL SOL DESTINO REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA BY GLOBALIA, which brought together players of different nationalities in a round played under the Individual Stableford format.

Robert Trent Jones’ design never disappoints and, on this occasion, it once again confirmed why it is one of the benchmark courses on the Costa del Sol, with a comfortable pace of play thanks to the weather conditions and the course set-up.

A strategic course with greens in perfect condition

Players found Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort in excellent condition, with perfect greens that drew plenty of praise throughout the day and a low-wind day that made the round a pleasure.

The major investments and improvements that Higuerón committed to with this project will arrive soon; in any case, the condition of the course and the service already deliver much of what is to come. During the round, the customary hospitality of Cervezas San Miguel was ever-present, along with the promotional initiatives of the circuit’s sponsors and partners.

Cocktail and prize-giving

After play, a splendid cocktail was served courtesy of Francesc Hormigo, who also hosted the prize-giving ceremony. The organisation of the Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort tournament was impeccable, and the circuit is especially grateful to Satu Kääriänen for making sure it was so.

All the prize-winners received trophies, dozens of Bridgestone balls, wines from Grupo La Navarra and clothing from the Fairway + Blue boutique. The day closed with a prize draw, the highlights of which were Jésica Reyes’ book SMART GOLF (train to perform and prevent) and, most notably, a VESSEL golf bag courtesy of the De Cotta Law law firm.

Qualifiers for the Andalucía Golf Challenge Final

The scratch winner and the winners of each category earn a place to play in the Final of the SAN MIGUEL XVI CIRCUITO ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE COSTA DEL SOL DESTINO REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA BY GLOBALIA, which will be held on 19 September at Hacienda Alcaidesa Heathland.

The remaining places, including any that arise from withdrawals of already-qualified players, will be assigned according to the circuit’s Ranking Costa del Sol.
