Just 30 minutes from the capital of the Costa del Sol, in the eastern part of the province, lies an unknown golfing jewel for many: Baviera Golf, an 18-hole course designed by José María Cañizares in a privileged enclave just 500 meters from the sea.
This par 71 golf course stands out for its wide greens and diversity of obstacles, which offer a great variety of shots. A course focused on any level of handicap and demanding at the same time for professional players.
Located in Caleta de Velez, halfway between the picturesque town of Nerja, famous for its beaches and white streets of Andalusian architecture, and Malaga, this course is the ideal getaway for golf enthusiasts who are enjoying a vacation.
The Mediterranean landscape that surrounds it offers an excellent place of second residence to numerous tourists who choose villages like Cómpeta, Frigiliana or Torrox to spend long periods in winter and play golf. That is why the influx of British, Germans and Nordic is very present.
The majestic clubhouse, inaugurated in November 2008, has facilities with all luxury of details, among which stand out its spacious changing rooms, pro-shop and restaurant with terrace overlooking the sea. Throughout the year, this enclave serves as a stage for many brides and grooms who decide to get married in its gardens. Another advantage is its subway parking with 200 spaces.
In addition to these attributes, the course is in excellent condition all year round thanks to the hard work of the maintenance team.
Baviera Golf, inaugurated with nine holes in 2000, premiered its second nine in 2004. It is a flat course with no major complications on its original nine holes, except for the greens, which have a lot of movement and slopes. The other nine, however, are more technical, more complicated. They are like two different courses, which makes the course designed by Cañizares attractive. Water, in the form of lakes or rivers, comes into play in a good part of the course.
