Blanca Hermana and Carlos de Miguel, Andalusian Senior Champions 2014

Carlos de Miguel Olivares and Blanca Hermana Salcedo have been proclaimed winners of the fifteenth edition of the International Senior Individual Championship of Andalusia for Men and Women, a tournament that has been played over two days at the Cadiz course of La Cañada Golf Club (Guadiaro).

In the women’s senior category, Blanca Hermana practically sealed the victory in the first 18 holes with a round of 81 strokes.

The player from Malaga had a juicy ten-stroke lead over María Pilar van Dulken Jiménez-Lopera heading into the second and final day.

On the last day, he signed another round of 81 strokes to certify his second consecutive title in the competition after the one he won last year at Lauro Golf (Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga).

The runner-up was María Pilar van Dulken, who finished 24 strokes behind the new Andalusian Senior champion.

In the 1st ladies’ category, the victory went to Mohanie Sookdeo Dodebier, author of two rounds of 93 and 95 strokes, while in the 2nd category, Rocío Hernández Gutiérrez won with 224 cumulative strokes.

On the other hand, in the men’s event, Carlos de Miguel delivered a second round of 81 strokes at the clubhouse, which together with the 93 strokes of Peter Thomas Wilkey, caused the turnaround in the standings.

Finally, Carlos de Miguel was seven strokes ahead of Peter Thomas Wilkey, who had led the opening round of the championship with 74 strokes (best round of the competition).

Likewise, Manuel Sousa Muros with 169 strokes, and John Robilliard with 194, were winners in 1st and 2nd category, respectively.

As regards the handicap results, in the women’s section, Margaret Robinson (1st category) and Shirley Ulliot (2nd), equal at 174 net strokes with Chelo Zafra Martinez, topped their corresponding classifications.

Regarding the gentlemen, Regino Angulo Varona (1st category) and Jesús María Blanco Aguayo (2nd) were victorious in the Guadiareño route of La Cañada.

Once the sports day was over, all participants enjoyed a lunch as a preamble to a prize distribution in which were present Mr. Francisco Cervilla Rodríguez, President of the Seniors Technical Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; Mr. Humberto Ybarra Coello de Portugal, Provincial Delegate in Cadiz of the RFGA; Mr. José Alberto Andrades Díaz, Managing Director of the Club de Golf La Cañada; and Mr. Diego Molina Peso, Chief Referee of the championship.
