Blanca Hermana and Martin Fell, Andalusian Senior Champions

Blanca Hermana, from Málaga federated by the Real Club de Campo de Málaga, and the player from El Paraíso, Martin Fell, have won today the Andalusian Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships 2016, which have been held this weekend in the Cadiz courses of Sherry Golf Jerez and Costa Ballena, with the participation of more than 80 players in the men’s category and a total of 24 players in the women’s event.

Thus, this second day ended with no surprises, after Blanca Hermana and Martin Fell confirmed the lead that both had already taken yesterday, after the first round.

Beginning with the women’s event, which has been played in Costa Ballena, Blanca Hermana finished with a total of 153 strokes, the sum of the 75 strokes with which she finished yesterday and the 78 she has signed today. The Malaga, who started as a clear favorite, has thus won the title for the fourth consecutive time.

In second place, she was followed by the player from Novo Sancti Petri, Deirdre Maher, with a total of 166. The third place went to Cecile Rousseau, from Zaudín Golf, who also maintained the place she had won yesterday with a total of 174 strokes.

As for the men’s classification, Martin Fell has won at Sherry Golf with a total of 156 strokes, the result of two identical rounds of 78 impacts each. For his part, César Fernández Caleya, who yesterday finished tied for first place with the winner, has finally been in second place with only one stroke difference. Third place went to Luis Macho, a member of Alhaurín Golf, with a total of 164.

As for the handicap awards, and starting with the female category, the player of Guadalhorce Club de Golf, Mª Pilar van Dulken, has won the first category with 152 net strokes, while Mª Carmen González, from Granada Club de Golf, has won the second category with 153 net strokes.

Finally, in the men’s handicap classifications, the winners were José Mª Laguna, from the Real Club de Campo de Córdoba, in 1st category and with 146 net strokes; Carlos López Bravo, from Granada Club de Golf, in 2nd category and with 148 net strokes; and Thomas Eklund, from the Miguel Ángel Jiménez Golf School, who signed 155 net strokes to win in third category.

The awards ceremony in Costa Ballena was presided over by Francisco Cervilla, President of the Seniors Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; Lola Ruiz Calderón, director of the course; Miguel Navarro Álvarez, General Secretary and Manager of the RFGA; and Rafael Toval, referee of the event.

Francisco Cervilla; Emilio Lustau, director of Sherry Golf Jerez; Miguel Navarro; and Fernando Pascual del Pobil, Chief Referee of the Tournament, were present at Sherry Golf.

The Championships were played over 36 holes in Stroke Play Scratch over two consecutive days, with 18 holes each day.
