

According to the verdict, Emma Villacieros receives this award in recognition of “a lifetime of outstanding dedication to the practice, organization, management, promotion and development of sport”.
In this way, Emma Villacieros, who began her work in the RFEG in 1965 and served as president between 1988 and 2008, appears on the list of award winners alongside athletes such as Radamel Falcao (Soccer) or Joel Gonzalez (Taekwondo), and sports institutions such as FC Barcelona or Valencia Basket Club.
At the end of the reading of the awards, the Secretary of State for Sport, Miguel Cardenal, thanked all the members of the jury, chaired by David Villaverde, Director General of Sports of the CSD, for their collaboration. The jury is made up of representatives of the CSD itself, COE, Sports Federations, Autonomous Communities, local corporations, the media and sportsmen and women of recognized prestige.
It is worth remembering that Emma Villacieros played a fundamental role in the growth and development of golf in Spain, where the 91 existing courses in 1989 multiplied to 324 in 2008; also, Emma was one of the key people in the celebration of the Ryder Cup 97, which for the first time left the British Isles to be played in Valderrama.
