Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters will be played without spectators

In accordance with the European Tour’s comprehensive health strategy and after consultation with local and national authorities, it is confirmed that the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters will be played without spectators.

Fans who have purchased tickets for the tournament to be played from September 3-6 at the Real Club Valderrama will be notified shortly of the details of the refund process.

The European Tour resumed in July with two tournaments in Austria, also valid for the Challenge Tour, followed by a six-week tour of the United Kingdom, and since the restart of the Race to Dubai 2020 all tournaments have been played behind closed doors.

Following the strategy of playing tournaments grouped geographically whenever possible, the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters will form an “Iberian tour” with the Portugal Masters (September 10-13) and the Open de Portugal (September 17-20).

“We are looking forward to returning to Real Club Valderrama in September, but it is important that we strictly adhere to the rules and continue to minimize risk within the bubble of each of our tournaments,” said Peter Adams, the European Tour’s appointed Championship Director for the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters.

“That is why it will not be possible for us to welcome fans to the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters this year. We greatly appreciate the interest of all those who wanted to attend the tournament and we will immediately contact those who have already purchased tickets.”

“We would also like to thank our partners – Estrella Damm, Real Club Valderrama and the Junta de Andalucía – and the rest of the sponsors for their loyalty, support and commitment, all of them fundamental to launch the tournament.”

All tournaments in the reshaped 2020 season are governed by the tour’s comprehensive health strategy, which has been developed by Dr. Andrew Murray, its medical director, in collaboration with consultants from many of the 30 countries through which the European Tour passes and Cignpost, a company specializing in health care.

These events are launching the innovative “Golf for Good” initiative, which aims to support the communities through which the European Tour passes, reward real heroes (such as the staff tackling the fight against covid on the front line) and promote the many health benefits of golf.

The Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, a European Tour tournament valid for the Race to Dubai that is held thanks to the essential collaboration of Real Club Valderrama, is sponsored by Estrella Damm and the Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration of the Andalusian Regional Government, as well as being co-financed with European funds, declared an event of exceptional public interest by the Spanish Government, and supported by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.
