From 7 to 10 September Lauro Golf will be hosting the Spanish Under-18 International Championship. Players from 13 different countries are set to tee up at the Costa del Sol resort, in an event that allocates points for the R&A world amateur golfing ranking. The high quality of the course is highlighted by the fact that 50 of the 90 participants have a plus-handicap.
Simultaneously to the celebration of this competition, a parallel tournament will be held in which the different countries will compete for the title in the Nations Cup. For this purpose, each national team will be able to present up to a maximum of three teams, with two to three players each, which will be designated by the respective National Federations.
To elucidate the winner of the Nations Cup, the two best results of each team will be used, although the duration of this championship will be limited to the first three rounds of the event, using the same result that the players make in the rounds corresponding to the International Championship of Spain U-18.
Among the participants, the Slovakian Tadeas Tetak stands out as the player with the lowest handicap of the tournament, he will start the championship with a handicap of -4, although the Spanish Eugenio López-Chacarra Coto and the Czech Jiri Zuska are not far behind, in both cases, with a handicap of -3.7.
Although the importance of other players who will be present at Lauro Golf cannot be underestimated, such as the Spanish Alejandro Aguilera, recently proclaimed champion of Spain in his category. It is also worth mentioning the participation of the Italian Julien Paltrinieri, who finished third last July in the English Boys’ Under 18 Open Amateur.
These two events are a continuation of Lauro Golf’s commitment to support the young promises of this sport, which are joined by the Match between the Spanish and Italian U-18 teams to be held, as a prologue, on the fifth and sixth of September in the twenty-seven holes of the Malaga resort. In addition, Lauro Golf also wants to support the development of future Andalusian golfers so it will host the Interclubs Championship of Andalusia Children and Cadet the next sixteenth and seventeenth of September.
