The best European U-18s face each other at Lauro Golf

Lauro Golf hosts from 7 to 10 September the International Championship of Spain U18. Players of up to thirteen different nationalities will meet at the Malaga resort with the intention of proclaiming champion of Spain under-18 in this 2017. This event is scoring for the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, so players will have a good opportunity to accumulate points and climb positions in the aforementioned ranking.

The level of the participants will be very high, and this is attested by the handicap of the golfers registered for the event, where up to fifty players arrive at the event with a handicap of less than zero. A good sample of the golfing level that can be enjoyed during the first week of September in the Malaga course.

The championship will last four days and will be played under the stroke play modality of 72 holes, distributed in four rounds of eighteen holes per day. The ninety players will have the option to play until the third round, after which the best fifty players will be cut, the most tied, who will be the lucky ones who will be able to fight for the title in the final round.

Simultaneously to the celebration of this competition, a parallel tournament will be held in which the different countries will compete for the title in the Nations Cup. For this purpose, each national team will be able to present up to a maximum of three teams, with two to three players each, which will be designated by the respective National Federations.

To elucidate the winner of the Nations Cup, the two best results of each team will be used, although the duration of this championship will be limited to the first three rounds of the event, using the same result that the players make in the rounds corresponding to the International Championship of Spain U-18.

Among the participants, the Slovakian Tadeas Tetak stands out as the player with the lowest handicap of the tournament, he will start the championship with a handicap of -4, although the Spanish Eugenio López-Chacarra Coto and the Czech Jiri Zuska are not far behind, in both cases, with a handicap of -3.7.

Although the importance of other players who will be present at Lauro Golf cannot be underestimated, such as the Spanish Alejandro Aguilera, recently proclaimed champion of Spain in his category. It is also worth mentioning the participation of the Italian Julien Paltrinieri, who finished third last July in the English Boys’ Under 18 Open Amateur.

These two events are a continuation of Lauro Golf’s commitment to support the young promises of this sport, which are joined by the Match between the Spanish and Italian U-18 teams to be held, as a prologue, on the fifth and sixth of September in the twenty-seven holes of the Malaga resort. In addition, Lauro Golf also wants to support the development of future Andalusian golfers so it will host the Interclubs Championship of Andalusia Children and Cadet the next sixteenth and seventeenth of September.
