
The Almeria course of the Playa Serena Golf Club has repeated, once again this season, as the venue for the inaugural tournament of the Andalusian Seniors Circuit. This annual circuit, now in its seventeenth edition, consists of eight events (Playa Serena, Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Club de Campo de Córdoba, Granada Club de Golf, Parque Deportivo La Garza, Parador de Málaga, Golf El Rompido y Arcos Gardens) plus the Grand Final to be held at Mijas Golf.
In Playa Serena, the event was marked by a resounding success of participation, with more than 80 players who played 18 holes under the Stableford Handicap modality.
In the first men’s category, Gerald John Perego won with a total of 38 points, followed by local Miguel Eugene Hainaut and Carlos López Bravo.
José Ruiz Jiménez, licensed player of the Playa Serena Golf Club, was victorious in the second men’s category with a score of 39 points.
The second position was for Tony Redston, tied on 37 points with the also local José Miguel García Ortega.
Finally, in the Ladies category, Josefa Palomo Rando accumulated 36 points and was three points ahead of local golfer María Dolores Babón Sanz.
The awards ceremony was presided over by Salvador Pérez Mérida, Acting President of the Seniors Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, and Francisco Javier Martín Mendoza, Director of the Playa Serena Golf Club.
The next tournament of the Andalucia Seniors Circuit 2014 will be held on March 1st at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
