
Guadalhorce Golf Club has been proclaimed winner of the Men’s Interclubs Championship of Andalucia in a competition held in its own course during two days.
The foursome formed by Carlos Segura Oliva, José María Manzanares Nieto, Eduardo Martín-Montalvo Santillana and Salvador Oliva Calderón was in third position after a first round played under the Foursome modality.
On the second and final day, the local team catapulted to first place thanks to excellent rounds under par by Carlos Segura (70 strokes) and Eduardo Martín-Montalvo (71 strokes).
Thus, Guadalhorce Club de Golf, with a total of 375 accumulated strokes, left the victory at home and won its second absolute title after the one obtained in 1997.
Also, this team will be subsidized by the Men’s Technical Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation to participate in the Men’s Interclub Championship of Spain, which will be played between September 26 and 29 at the Real Club de Golf de Pedreña.
The second place, two strokes behind the winners, went to the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina team formed by Casto Gómez Ruiz, Antonio Cruz-Conde Rodríguez-Guerra, Haiko Dana and Javier Luque Fernandez-Regatillo. In addition to the runner-up, this team won the first handicap category with a total of 363 net strokes.
In the second Scratch category, the first place went to another foursome from the Real Club de Guadalmina. Francisco Bernal Quirós, Sebastián Peña García, Francisco Castaño Bardisa and Francisco Jesús Martín Ramírez were at the top of the classification from the first day, and in the final round, they certified their victory with a record of 414 strokes.
Finally, in the second handicap category, Guadalhorce Club de Golf rounded off its great role in this competition with the outstanding victory of the team composed of Pablo Alonso Rosado, Víctor Jiménez Bravo, Julián Liñán Recuenco and Alfonso Monllor Lazarraga.
After the twenty participating teams finished this fun and exciting day of golf, the awards ceremony began with the presence, among others, of Manuel Garvayo, Acting President of the Men’s Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, Salvador Alvarez, Managing Director of Guadalhorce Club de Golf, and Alfonso Barrionuevo, Chief Referee of the championship.
