The splendid Real Club de Golf Guadalhorce has hosted with great success the twelfth meeting of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe, a circuit of open amateur championships which this year celebrates its tenth edition and is played in seventeen excellent courses, among which are several of the best in Spain. This Circuit, organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf, has as its grand finale prize five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.
The tournament in the Malaga club registered a great success of participation, with 180 registered, being in fact the most crowded of the Circuit this year. The competition was part of the Club’s Big Week and many members took part in it, on a sunny day with isolated gusts of wind in the middle hours of the day. Those playing the course for the first time were pleasantly impressed by the quality and condition of the course, which has undergone significant improvements in recent times.
Apart from the prizes of each tournament (premium branded clothing from the store Fairway+Blue in Puerto Banús, wines D.O. Somontano, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the first three classified in each category plus the scratch winner of each tournament get a place to play the grand final of the Circuit (Atalaya Old, November 21) and thus opt for one of the five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic.
As regards the sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Eduardo de Wint Álvarez (45 points), followed by Francisco Polaina Navarro (43), and Gonzalo Galán Molina (42).
In the second category, Jose Antonio Moreno Rodriguez won with 48 points. In second place, with 42 points, was María Eugenia Ramos Arrenberg, while third place went to Fran Sorroche García, who scored 41 points.
In the scratch category, the winner was Javier Seara Prieto, with 37 scratch points, the same as the second classified, Fernando Moreno Onieva.
The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Tom Holmes, and the prizes for the longest drive were won by María Dolores Osborne and Javier Seara.
