Iberostar Golf Novo Sancti Petri, ready for the Alps of Andalusia

Chiclana hosts next week the fourth edition of the Andalusia Golf Alps, an international event in which 138 professional players will participate. Between September 1 and 5, the Club Iberostar Golf Novo Sancti Petri will bring together many professionals struggling to find their place on the European Tour. The Alps Tour is a springboard circuit for many players who want to make the leap to the best circuit of the Old Continent.

The tournament also coincides with the 25th anniversary of the club, a great time to host a championship of these characteristics, which will also serve to be part of the program organized on the occasion of the designation of Chiclana as European City of Sport 2015.

The competition will begin on August 31 with the qualifying round, in which the best five will get their place to play. Among the novelties, this Alps de Andalucía is a tournament valid for the world ranking. It will be the first tournament in the history of the Tour that will award World Order of Merit points to the winner.

The event will have 138 players, of which 83 are international and 55 are national, with a representation of more than 20 countries. As for the prizes, €50,000 will be distributed, with the first prize being €6,900.

The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, stressed in the presentation of the tournament the importance of hosting the event: “The celebration of this championship is important for the city, especially because it is part of the 25 years of the Golf Club Novo Sancti Petri and because this year Chiclana is European City of Sport. That is why we must emphasize that the destination Chiclana and golf destination should be as important as the sun and beach destination.

The championship will be broadcast on television. Actions like this are a reminder of the importance of golf in the area, especially because they promote it throughout Europe. In addition, thanks to golf, hotels and the hotel industry can extend their high season period”.

The Alps de Andalucía is possible thanks to the joint collaboration of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Royal Golf Federation of Andalusia in their constant effort to give young professionals the opportunity to compete in international circles at the highest level. JGolf18.0 is the promoter and organizer of the tournament, which has the support of the Consejo Superior de Deportes, Alps Tour and the City Council of Chiclana de la Frontera. It also has the collaboration of the companies Bodegas Ramón Bilbao (official wine), Conservas Cuca (official product), Solán de Cabras, Kyocera (official printing services) and Reale.
