The golf professional from Malaga, Ana Belén Sánchez, has taken charge of the Children’s Academy of the Torremolinos Municipal Golf School “Miguel Ángel Jiménez”. The golfer has entrusted her with the management of the specific teaching program focused on the youngest, for whom a separate practice area has been designed.
Since September 1, Ana Belén is the person responsible for laying the foundations of the Children’s Academy that will use the TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) teaching method. The golfer is finalizing details of the 2014/15 course, which will begin on September 29 for children between 3 and 17 years, divided into three quarters emulating the evaluations of the school period, with an innovative method through which parents will have easy access and digitally to all information concerning the learning and progress of their children in the control panel of the School.
Miguel Ángel Jiménez: “I am very excited about this new approach that Ana Belén will give to the children’s part of the School; I have full confidence in her professionalism, human qualities and teaching method. I will never tire of proclaiming that the future of our sport necessarily depends on the children, and they must be given all the importance they deserve. To this end, I have designed a special practice area for the little ones, equipped not only with everything they need to learn to play golf, but more importantly, with games to make it fun for them to enjoy this wonderful sport. I would like to instill in them the passion that I have for golf”.
Ana Belén Sánchez: “Working with someone who is respected around the world and who knows as much about golf as Miguel is a dream come true. He knows how to listen, appreciates what you do and invites you to take the initiative; I come here very motivated, everything has been support and facilities. I like teaching very much and I have been fully dedicated to it for five years. I try to put myself in the children’s shoes and think about what I would have liked when I was their age, which is why I get along so well with them. I try to introduce a lot of games so that the little ones don’t get bored, but on the contrary, that learning is fun and entertaining, and that they feel passion for this sport. I try to get the older ones out on the field a lot and I organize competitions for them, but without pressuring them with results or forcing them to win; no, it’s not about pressuring them, it’s about having fun and enjoying the fact of competing”.
