Koepka named PGA Tour Player of the Year

Brooks Koepka, 28 years old and third in the world ranking, has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year thanks to his two Grand Slam titles, after a vote by the players of the most important tour on the planet.
A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, he has achieved this award for the first time in his career due to two victories in majors in the current season: the US Open and the PGA Championship, the latter tournament he also won last year.
After being elected, Koepka will have the Jack Nicklaus trophy in his hands, after having left in the race his strongest competition, also Americans Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau as well as Englishman Justin Rose.

The American’s current achievements have allowed his name to be inscribed alongside other greats in this discipline, as he became the fifth player to win the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship in the same year, joining Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Gene Sarazen on the select list.

Koepka is the sixth different player to receive this award in the last six years, the longest streak since PGA Tour players began voting in 1990.
