The five winners of the grand finale of the XIV San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic by Globalia enjoyed an exclusive trip to the Dominican Caribbean coast in November, where they lived an unparalleled experience between golf, luxury and nature.
Dominican Republic: A golfer’s paradise
With its combination of world-class golf courses, a privileged climate and the renowned hospitality of the Dominicans, this destination guarantees a dream golf trip. As in previous editions, the experience exceeded all expectations.
The protagonists of the trip
The five awardees of the circuit final were:
- Domingo Gavira
- Olav Maaland

Along with them, other golfers joined the trip, forming a group of 20 players in total.
A luxury accommodation in La Romana
The group stayed at the Sunscape Dominicus La Romana, a newly renovated Hyatt resort located on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The area of choice was the exclusive Sun Club, with access to private pools, exclusive bars and premium service.
A golf tour of the best courses in the Caribbean
The itinerary included four days of golf at some of the Dominican Republic’s most prestigious courses.
PGA Ocean’s 4: The first contact with golf in the Caribbean
The trip kicked off with a round at PGA Ocean’s 4, a course with seaside holes and challenging greens. The visit included a special night golf event with illuminated balls, live music and an unforgettable party.
Casa de Campo: The Caribbean golf icon
The next stop was Casa de Campo, the most prestigious golf resort in the Caribbean, with four golf courses designed by Pete Dye:
- Teeth of the Dog: Considered the best golf course in the Caribbean.
- Dye Fore: With breathtaking views of the Chavón River and the Marina.
- The Links: A challenging course with undulating greens.
- La Romana Country Club: Exclusively for members.
The group played at Dye Fore, combining the Marina and Chavón tours. The experience included lunch in Altos del Chavón, a charming medieval-style village.
A special meeting with Miguel Ángel Jiménez
During the visit to Casa de Campo, the group coincided with the resort’s ambassador, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, who was taking advantage of his stay in the Caribbean before competing in the final of the PGA Tour Champions.
Punta Espada: Jack Nicklaus’ flagship course
The trip continued with a round at Punta Espada, the Jack Nicklaus Signature which is considered one of the best courses in the world. Its spectacular seaside holes left the players speechless.
Relaxation and extra golf for the most passionate golfers
The group had days off to enjoy Dominicus Beach or play at La Estancia, just 15 minutes from the hotel. Before returning, some players took the opportunity to play a final round at the Iberostar Bávaro Golf Club.
Beyond Golf: Dominican Culture and Tradition
The trip included excursions to two emblems of Dominican culture:
- Barceló Rum Factory: The oldest in the country.
- Cigar Country by Vega Fina: Discovery of the premium cigar making process.
