The tournament will be held from September 15 to 18 at the Costa del Sol club.

La Quinta Golf & Country Club, located between the municipal boundaries of Marbella and Benahavís, has been designated as the venue for the Open de España Femenino 2011, a competition within the European Women’s Tour that will take place between September 15 and 18 with the sponsorship of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, which supports this tournament until 2012 with a preferential option for the editions between 2013 and 2015.

The choice of La Quinta Golf & Country Club, a golf resort of renowned prestige, also renews the commitment to quality that emanates from the Costa del Sol, one of the most important destinations in Europe.

The Open de España Femenino occupies the twentieth place in the calendar of confirmed tournaments in the Ladies European Tour 2011 and will be the third to be held this year in our country after the recent European Women’s Cup held in La Sella (Denia, Alicante), which was a great success, and the Tenerife Ladies Match Play to be held in mid-June, which shows the importance of Spain within the European Women’s Tour.

La Quinta Golf & Country Club will host the Open de España Femenino for the first time in its history, a tournament supported by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation.

As usual, one hundred and twenty professional players, including the most prominent players of the Old Continent, including Spanish players, as well as six amateurs, will fight for the title of the Open de España Femenino 2011 over four days, although only the top 60 classified at the end of the second round will have the opportunity to continue in the competition after passing the mandatory cut.

Founded in 1989, La Quinta Golf & Country Club has a well-deserved and internationally recognized reputation for its high level of quality, one of the busiest golf resorts on the Costa del Sol designed in its day by Manuel Piñero. The 27-hole complex, which includes the prestigious Meliá hotel, has three 9-hole courses that can be combined with each other, which expands your playing options.

Spectacularity has characterized the celebration of the last editions of the Spanish Open for Women, resolved in many cases on the last hole. In the last one, held at the nearby Flamingos Golf, the legendary Laura Davies added a new title to her impressive list of winners.
