La Reserva Club Sotogrande, great scenery of the Andalucía Golf Challenge

The extraordinary course of La Reserva Club Sotogrande, home of the Aramco Team Series and the La Reserva de Sotogrande Invitational hosted by Annikaboth on the Ladies European Tour, and the NH Collection Open on the European Tour, has once again been the main stage of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit, which this year celebrates its eleventh edition and has as its grand final prize five one-week trips to Riviera Maya, in Mexico, including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: PGA Riviera Maya, El Camaleón Mayacoba and Playa Paraíso.

Oscar Checa and all the club staff did a great job that contributed to the success of the tournament, which took place in sunny weather with hardly any wind. It is worth mentioning the magnificent quality of the cocktail that was served halfway through the course. Also noteworthy is the extraordinary presentation and quality of the course.

In terms of sporting results, in the first category, the first three classified were Luis Miguel Rodríguez Martínez (39 points), Javier Gersol Pérez-Angulo (38) and Thomas Doyle (37).

The top three in the second category were Rory England (47 points), Ksenia Yamilova (40) and Jesús Porrro Molina (35).

The scratch winner was Timo Van T Zelfde, with 31 scratch points.

The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Thomas Doyle, and the longest drive went to Rocío García-Aranda Pez and Barry Martin.

As in the previous two years, this open amateur circuit organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf/España Golf has as a prize for the final five trips to the Caribbean by the hand of Grupo Piñero. Apart from the prizes of each competition, the first classified in each category plus the scratch winner of each tournament get a direct place to play the grand final of the circuit at the Marbella Golf Resort on October 2, with closing dinner of the circuit at the restaurant El Gamonal in Marbella and thus opt for one of the five trips to Riviera Maya for a week. The remaining places for the final game are obtained based on a ranking based on the points obtained in the tournaments played.

The trip to the Riviera Maya is scheduled for November 6-14 of this year. Two rounds will be played at the PGA Riviera Maya, one at Mayakoba (after the completion of the PGA Tour’s Mayakoba Classic) and another at Playa Paraiso.
