La Reserva teacher wins European PGA tournament

Víctor García, professional and teacher at La Reserva de Sotogrande, signed a brilliant triumph in The Invitational 2015 Professional tournament of the European PGA, played in Quinta do Lago, in the Portuguese Algarve.

With three magnificent rounds (68+69+69), the professional from La Reserva managed to beat Mark Mouland, David Griffiths and Hugo Santos by one stroke, all of whom finished the round with -9.

Garcia won in a tight competition against such well-known names as Bradley Dredge (double winner in the European Tuour), Emanuele Canonica (winner of the Johnnie Walker Championshi), or Gary Wolstenhomlme.

The professional from La Reserva de Sotogrande became the second Spaniard to win the title, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Gabriel Cañizares in 2014. Garcia admitted that having gone out on the course on the last day tied with two other rivals made him feel very nervous on the first tee.

“But I calmed down when I birdied the third hole,” he said after receiving a check for 10,000 euros for his victory. “And when I really gained confidence was my chances was on the fifth hole, a par five where I made eagle.”

“I feel very happy, I think it is one of the most important days of my life, because I had never won a tournament as a professional. I want to say thank you to everyone, including Eligo, Quinta do Lago, the PGA of Europe and even my opponent today.”
