Made of concrete, aluminum and glass, with a totally open and luminous design, on a single floor, it will house several areas for the development of the specific work of the CETD, such as swing analyzer, biomechanical room, putt analysis, total course simulator and gymnasium.
The objective of this CETD is to generate a professional future for golf players by developing a study and work plan starting at an early age (12 years old). In the words of the president of La Cañada, Ángel Gutiérrez, “to make this Center a production of champions and to train people above all else”.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended, in addition to Gutiérrez, by the presidents of the Spanish and Andalusian Golf Federations, Gonzaga Escauriaza and Ángel de la Riva, respectively, the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, and the delegate of Education, Culture and Sports of the Andalusian Regional Government in Cadiz, Cristina Saucedo.
The CETD, although it does not yet have a building, has already begun its activity, and on March 9 the first concentration of the young people selected to participate in this initiative took place in La Cañada. Of the forty applicants, the technicians chose seventeen, and there are still three more places to be assigned, to complete the final twenty.
From the first training camp onwards, the programs prepared by the golf technicians, psychologists and personnel involved in the training of the promising young players began to be developed.
