Lumine Golf Club has been named ‘Best Golf Resort in Europe’ for the second consecutive year at the World Golf Awards. Voted for by leading golf tourism professionals, as well as thousands of golf consumers worldwide, the World Golf Awards serve to recognize and celebrate commitment to excellence in golf tourism.
As the venue for the European Tour’s final qualifying round since 2017, Lumine Golf Club has welcomed the next generation of talent from around the world, and will continue to do so until 2022, having signed a further three-year extension in early 2020; further evidence of the high regard Lumine Golf Club is held in throughout the industry.
The resort offers one of the most exclusive experiences on and off the golf course; with an unparalleled Beach Club with panoramic views of the Mediterranean, two state-of-the-art clubhouses, five excellent restaurants, first-class practice facilities with Toptracer technology, and access to one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast.
In terms of golf offerings, its 45 holes present the perfect combination of challenge and reward. With two courses designed by World Golf Hall of Fame member Greg Norman, Lakes is a technically challenging 6,300-meter, par-71 golf course and Ruins is a nine-hole layout built alongside Roman archaeological remains from the 2nd century BC.
The Hills course completes the offer, with a course of 6,334 meters par 72 in stark contrast to the lakes, with its incredible views of the coast, among lush forests and olive groves.
Agustin Garcia, Chief Business Officer of Lumine Golf Club, said: “We are honored to be recognized by the World Golf Awards. We would like to thank the public and leading industry professionals for bestowing this award on us for the second year in a row. It has been a difficult year for everyone in the industry, but over the past 12 months we have worked collectively at Lumine to retain this award. We look forward to welcoming more international visitors to the club in 2021 and to showcasing our exceptional facilities as they deserve.
“Without the hard work and dedication of all our staff, we would not have been able to provide a first-class service to all our guests. This award is testament to all the sacrifices they have made over the past year, and our goal now is to improve and deliver a complete golf experience for every guest; that will bring us closer to revalidating the award for the third consecutive year next year.”
Andy Gordon, Director of Golf, Lumine Golf Club, further commented: “To win this award two years in a row is nothing short of amazing. We are very proud to have been chosen again and would like to thank all those who placed their trust in Lumine and gave us their vote. As a club, we pride ourselves on offering the best facilities and services in the region, with our two championship courses, as well as numerous top quality restaurants and the Beach Club for guests to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming international visitors and the European Tour’s Q-School back to Lumine in 2021.”
Earlier this year, the club announced an agreement with the Swiss Golf Association to become the winter training base for the country’s national amateur and professional golf teams, again demonstrating the unbeatable qualities of Lumine’s facilities.
It is also worth noting that on International Women’s Day, Lumine Golf Club became the first golf club in Spain to commit its support to The R&A’s Women in Golf Charter; pledging to increase female representation at the club by 50% and to introduce up to 100 women to golf in the coming years.
