Madrid’s Álex del Rey wins for the first time on the DP World Tour

Álex del Rey (-22) has obtained his first victory in the DP World Tour this Sunday. The Spaniard has done it with extreme superiority in the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in the United Arab Emirates, where he has made 36 extraordinary final holes in which he has not made a single mistake.
Del Rey faced the final day with a -16 that pointed him as the main favorite for the title, since only the Englishman Marcus Armitage, two strokes away, was close to his result. That -16 was the result of three rounds of 68, 66 and 66 strokes, with special mention for the third, in which he did not make any mistakes.
Far from feeling any kind of pressure at the prospect of opening his winning record, the Spaniard repeated his 66 without a single bogey. Thus, he prevented Al Hamra Golf Club from experiencing the slightest uncertainty.
So far, Alex del Rey had only one victory, the one achieved in the Big Green Egg German Challenge, belonging to the Challenge Tour. In the DP World Tour he had a dozen Top 20 in the last two years.
More positive news from the Ras Al Khaimah Championship: the third place of David Puig (-15), signatory of the best round of Sunday (65). Ivan Cantero, fifth with -12, rounded off a wonderful day for Spanish golf.
