The link between Onda Cero Marbella and the world of golf goes back a long way and has always been very intense. For a long time they organized the Pro-Am Protagonistas that Luís del Olmo does in this city every year, they have supported many other amateur tournaments and have covered the great golf events that have taken place in the area for years, such as the Ryder Cup, the Volvo Masters, Open de Andalucía, etc…
That is why, when they celebrated their twenty-five years on the air, they could not fail to dedicate one of their main events to golf. Because, as Pepe Navajas, the director of the radio station, says, “we live and work in a great golf destination and we feel intimately linked to this land, we are part of it”.
Last June 25th at the Flamingos golf club about a hundred players gathered to participate in the 25th anniversary tournament. The proceeds went to benefit the Marbella association CRECE for “special children”. In addition to the direct participants in the tournament, politicians, such as the mayor of Benahavís and other representatives of the municipality of Marbella, journalists, businessmen etc. attended the event. It was a pleasant day of sporting conviviality in which some reached the maximum of golfing happiness, such as Richard Bjorkman who achieved a hole in one. And as no special prize was planned for this “rare feat”, one had to be improvised.
