
Antequera Golf will host from the 16th to the 19th of this month the final of one of the most important amateur competitions in the world: the Home Nations Junior Team Golf Championships. It is the second consecutive year that this Malaga course hosts the final.15,000 players under 18 years of age belonging to more than 1,300 clubs in the United Kingdom participate throughout the year in competitions in Great Britain and Ireland from which the best go on to the regional finals and the winners of these, to the semi-finals and national finals, corresponding to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The four winning teams and the four runners-up in the national finals will compete in the grand final in Antequera.
The television channel Sky Sports will broadcast at least one hour of the final and will include tourist images of the Costa del Sol and the interior of the province of Malaga.
These Home Nations Junior Team Golf Championships, which celebrate their 20th anniversary this year, have become one of the most prestigious junior team competitions in the world. It is the only one of its kind in the British Isles and is supported by the Royal and Ancient, the four UK Golf Unions and the Golf Foundation.
Although it is located in the interior of the province, Antequera Golf is considered one of the courses that make up the Costa del Sol, Europe’s leading destination in golf tourism thanks to its wide range of courses (70) and its mild climate throughout the year, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. In the first days of March, daytime temperatures are above 20 degrees Celsius and the golf courses welcome numerous European golfers.
