REAL CLUB DE GOLF GUADALMINA CONCLUDES ITS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

After several months of work on the construction of the new store and caddy master of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, these works have finally concluded. At the beginning of March, members and visitors could check the excellent facilities, according to the project of the architect Alberto Rodriguez, who has managed to create a functional building that keeps a great harmony with the rest of the facilities.

At present, all customer services are centered in the new building: caddy master, pro shop and tournament office.

At the same time, due to its strategic position next to the tee of hole 1 of the North Course, it can offer a control of the course and provide service to all players both daily and in competitions, offering at the same time the club room service.

The maintenance shed at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina meets the most demanding environmental requirements.

Once the construction of the maintenance shed has been completed, according to the words of the sole administrator of Guadalmina Golf S.A., Jorge Molina, it has been possible to verify that all aspects of respect for the environment have been taken into account at the time of executing the project.

From decanters for chemical products, to filters for green waste produced by washing machines, the use of recycled water to comply with mandatory fire protection requirements, the construction of storage facilities for phytosanitary products in accordance with the most stringent regulations in this area, and the use of solar panels for sanitary water.

“We understand,” says Jorge Molina, “that we have marked a before and after in the construction of facilities for the maintenance of golf courses. And all this while maintaining an aesthetic appearance with a strong Andalusian accent, which has been able to integrate into the environment where it is located”.

The workshop is a fundamental part of maintenance. It has more than 200 square meters and is equipped with all the necessary elements to attend the wide range of machinery.

The common areas located on the mezzanine allow the greenkeeper to control the operation of the technical service area.

THE 10TH GREEN

One of the most important challenges in the construction of the new maintenance building was the integration of the new green on the 10th hole of the North Course.

A few weeks before its official opening, we can see that the contours of the new green invite you to play this hole, which thanks to its new length of 498 meters, will undoubtedly be a challenge for players of all levels. The company GTM has executed this green according to the most demanding quality standards.

“We only hope that the players will be able to enjoy this new green,” says Ignacio del Cuvillo. “We only have to finish the landscaping and then we will have completed the project,” he adds.

IGNACIO DEL CUVILLO, Manager of RCG Guadalmina

“Becoming a member of the Guadalmina R.C.G. is now a great opportunity.”

After the improvement reforms carried out by the RCG of Guadalmina, the club intends to expand its social base with a really interesting proposal.

-How do you feel after these months of intense work?

Tremendously satisfied, because although the challenge was very ambitious, I must say that, thanks to the collaboration of the entire team of Guadalmina, and the professionalism of both the architects Alberto Rodriguez and Jose Carlos Moya and the construction company Hezasa, we have been able to complete these two projects in just eight months from the start of the works, minimally affecting the social and sporting life of the club.

The truth is that, when we started with the improvement works, we knew that we had before us a challenge that marks a before and after in the life of a club.

The construction of the clubhouse, including the new bag storage system, together with the construction of the new pro store and tournament office, has provided Guadalmina with a high level of facilities.

This has also meant the adoption of decisions that have changed the work system. The members of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, now have a modern club room where the staff is responsible for the custody and offers all the attention they need.

And of course the other project worth mentioning is the construction of the new maintenance building, a modern and much needed facility, which we are sure will result in a better maintenance of the fields and a more efficient use of our resources, both in terms of machinery and human resources.

-What other projects do you have in mind?

After the completion of the aforementioned projects, our next projects include the refurbishment of the administration office and the construction of a gymnasium in the area formerly occupied by the old club room, as well as a multipurpose room, mainly oriented towards our nursery school.

With this I believe that we will further expand the sports and social offerings for our members, as they are our main objective.

-Is it likely that with all these improvements the number of requests to join Real Club de Golf Guadalmina has increased considerably?

Although, as we all know, we are going through a very difficult economic situation, the truth is that for the past few months we have received, with great satisfaction, numerous requests to join the club. Perhaps this has been motivated by the great offer we have made to recruit members for this year.

-Could you be more specific, what offer are you referring to?

Well, we already announced it last October: during this year couples, with or without children who wish to join the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina will only have to pay a one-time registration fee of 4,400 euros for the family unit and, of course, then pay the playing fees that best suit their needs.

We have also extended this option to those members who were already active and whose partners had not yet joined the club and who can do so during this year without having to pay a joining fee and only paying the playing fee of the modality they choose. It really is a great opportunity, and let’s not forget that in the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina the shares allow the whole family to join, including children up to 21 years old.

-And what is the objective you are pursuing with this?

We currently have 1,900 members, for two golf courses, and our goal would be to reach 2,100 members. This is a figure that we are really comfortable with, since the distribution of our members, between Spaniards and foreigners, the truth is that we maintain a great balance and everyone can enjoy the courses in good conditions.

-Any wishes for the future?

We have great sporting challenges ahead of us, such as the Spanish Women’s Championship in all categories in May, and a professional ALPS Tour event in July, and we hope they will be a success, as was the Andalusia Men’s Cup held in January.
