The American Patrick Reed, who had not won on the PGA Tour for two years, has won his first major in a Masters that has recorded extraordinary episodes. Jon Rahm finished fourth, four strokes behind the champion, who won with 15 under par. In second place, with one stroke more, was Rickie Fowler, and third was, after an incredible round of 64 strokes for a total of -13, Jordan Spieth, winner of the Masters in 2015.
Reed (-15) thus regains the green jacket for the Americans, after the victories of England’s Danny Willett in 2016 and Spain’s Sergio Garcia in 2017.
The 27-year-old Texan nearly posted four rounds (69-66-67-71) under 70 strokes, something no one has yet accomplished in the history of the Augusta Masters.
Meanwhile, Rahm, 23, finished with a score of -11 and rubbed shoulders with the cream of his generation, Americans Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed.
With this fourth place, the golfer from Barrika, consolidates his third place in the world ranking and shows that he has clear options to conquer any of the three majors that remain to be played this season, the US Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello finished in 38th place, with an overall score of 3 over par after a final round of 72.
Tiger Woods did not meet the high expectations that had been placed on him on the eve of the tournament and finished in 32nd place with a total of +1.
