In its constant dedication to provide a better service to golfers, San Roque Club has devised a new way to become a member of this prestigious resort in Costa del Sol. This is the International Membership, designed especially for those who are not residents in Spain but live in this country for a maximum of six months.
It consists of being a member of San Roque Club for six months a year, being able to divide this time in two periods of three months. For example, choose March, April and May and then September, October and November, or as best suits the holder.
The director of San Roque Club, Guillermo Navarro, explains how the idea of creating this type of membership came about.
“Last year,” he says, “the law on taxation was changed and that has been a concern for many people, because if you live more than six months in Spain you have to pay tax on all the assets you have abroad.”
“This,” he continues, “is creating, on the one hand, a diaspora of people who used to live here and, on the other hand, the conflict of those who want to come here and do not know whether to become members for a year, because if they had a tax inspection, for example, they could have problems by being listed as a one-year member even though they are only here for six months.”
“So, as San Roque Club goes with the times, we have decided to bring out this modality,” Navarro continues. “We have called it International because it is rather designed for non-residents, but it can also be useful for a man from Bilbao or Barcelona who comes for seasons”.
The fees are obviously lower than those of the annual membership, according to what they are going to play. Another advantage is that International Membership holders enjoy special membership discounts if they want to play outside the six-month period they have previously established.
“We are in the midst of launching this new product,” says Guillermo Navarro, “and the club has launched an offer that consists of a special starting price and free membership dues for the current year if you join before June”.
The director of San Roque Club emphasizes that the International Membership “is something totally new, which does not exist in the market, very specific for certain golfers, because it is very annoying to have to pay for the whole year when they can only be here for a few months”.
