
Half a dozen players (two girls and four boys) will represent Andalusia in the Spanish teams that will compete from July 8 to 12 in the Absolute and U18 Men’s and Women’s European Championships.
Among the six Spaniards who will fight for the victory at the European Absolute Men’s European Championshipthe Andalusians Mario Galiano and Mario Galiano and Scott Fernandezwho is competing in this championship for the third time and is currently successfully developing his golf career in the United States.
The tournament will be played at the Linna Golf Club course in Finland, where the Spanish team – which has won the title on two previous occasions (1997 and 2003) – now aims to conquer it again and improve on the results of 2011 and 2013, when Spain finished 5th and 9th respectively.
On the other hand, Carlos Leandro from Huelva and Pablo Rodríguez-Tabernero from Seville will compete in the Spanish team in the European Under 18 Men’s Championship, which will be held at the Oslo Golf Club course in Norway. The Spaniards aspire to achieve what would be the seventh victory in this championship for the national team.
In the Women’s Absolute category, the Andalusian Noemí Jiménez, who is developing a brilliant career in the United States, stands out.
The Spaniards will defend in Diners Golf and Country Club (Slovenia) the title they already won last year in this same championship, with the only novelty of Nuria Iturrios in the team, the other players being the same as those who won it in 2013.
Finally, the Spanish team aims to win for the seventh time the European U18 Women’s Championship, in which last year Spain obtained the third place in the classification. The golf course Resort Skalica, in Slovakia, will host this competition in which the participation in the Spanish team of the Andalusian María Parra stands out.
