Spain, a discreet performance in a very demanding WAGC World Final

Spain played a discreet role in the 2017 WAGC World Final held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), since given the high level of demand of the competition, our country was framed in the middle of the leaderboard, also achieving a runner-up position at the individual level.

Fernando Martín, manager in Spain of the WAGC, makes a positive balance of the great Final in the prestigious competition of International Amateur Golf, one of the most powerful in the world: “it is worth mentioning the sporting level of the golfers of the 35 countries represented and, as for the organization, the deployment of means of the World Cup, its luxury stay for the participants, the opening parties, the awards ceremony and, of course, the four courses where the competition was played, as they are world-class courses”.

In this aspect, not in vain, for example, the TPC Kuala Lumpur has been named as one of the best golf courses in Asia or Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, was awarded as the best course in Malaysia in 2016 and 2017. And how could it be otherwise, the level of competitiveness was very high and, from the first moment, it was appreciated that the countries represented noted that their preparation bar was very high.

As for the individual awards, the Valencian Joaquín Sais Sais, “Chimo”, was proclaimed runner-up in the fifth category after the four days of competition of the World Amateur Golfers Championships 2017 World Final. And precisely Chimo Sais made the best result of his fifth category (WAGI) on the last day, signing a card of 66 strokes, which led him to get the second position in his category.
