The Andalusian team has won with a score of 11.5 – 4.5 in the traditional Match Andalucía – Algarve, which has celebrated its seventeenth edition during two days in the facilities of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.
This meeting -always marked by familiarity and affection between both delegations- has been especially emotional, as this was the first edition held after the death last year of José Neto, Honorary President of the Portuguese Vilamoura Golf course and co-founder, together with Manuel Garvayo, of this competition that every year brings together young Portuguese and Andalusian players.
The Andalusian team was formed by Mónica Ruiz, Mimí Rhodes, María Contreras, Sara García, Felipe Barrena, Pablo Alonso, Fernando Galiano, Gonzalo García, Ignacio Puente and Ángel Hidalgo.
During the first day, the Andalusians already finished with an advantage of 5.5 – 2.5, after the dispute of the foursomes and individual matches. During the second day, which has been played today, the Andalusians have imposed with force, scoring the points of the two foursomes, the individual victories of Fernando Galiano, Gonzalo García and Ángel Hidalgo, and the draws of Mimi Rhodes and Ignacio Puente.
Thus, with a 6-2 score today, the overall result was 11.5 – 4.5 for the Andalusians.
At the end of the competition, both delegations shared a lunch, in the same atmosphere of affection and familiarity that has always marked this Match Andalusia – Algarve, whose spirit has been for 17 years the promotion of the values of golf and fraternization between the two youth teams.
