Suazo wins the Gecko test played at Lauro and Guadalhorce

Diego Suazo is the third champion of the Gecko Pro Tour season. Three tournaments and three different champions. The golfer from Valladolid has won with a total of 205 strokes after a tough battle held the last three days on the courses of Guadalhorce and Lauro Golf.

Suazo has sealed the victory on Wednesday with a splendid card of 67 strokes at Lauro Golf, the course that hosted the third and final day. The winner finally won with two strokes ahead of Carlos Balmaseda from Madrid and five over the Swedish Alexander Jacobsson, the Germans Philipp Mejow and Patrick Kopp, the British Matthew Webb and the Spanish Daniel Serón, who acted as local player.

Suazo, 31 years old and from Valladolid but based in Madrid, once again demonstrates with this victory his spectacular form. Not in vain, the pupil of Ismael del Castillo and Eduardo Serrano, coach and physical trainer, respectively, has won the last three tournaments he has played, the last event and the Final of the Madrid Professional Circuit and this third stop of the Gecko.

Undoubtedly, the victory at Lauro Golf is a further endorsement of his confidence and, above all, a boost in his preparation for his next big goal: the Asian Tour School. “This victory is very good for me from an emotional point of view. It confirms that I am doing things very well and will allow me to arrive in a good moment at the Asian Tour School, which is held in January and is the goal marked in red this season,” said Suazo after lifting the winner’s trophy.

The key to the victory was the game around the green. “The first day I made a very good round at Guadalhorce with a great short game and today at Lauro I kicked really well. That’s the explanation for what happened. I have to thank Eduardo Serrado and Ismael del Castillo because clearly we are going in the right direction,” he said.

Suazo has won in the Gecko at second. He already played one event last year and finished third. “It is clear that I feel comfortable in this circuit, we get along well. Of course, we must be grateful for the work they do because it allows us to be in competition in a few months when there is nothing and above playing in short sleeves in Malaga and with very well prepared fields, “he said.

This third round of the Gecko also left us another winner. Jorge Simón from Madrid, although he did not make the cut, remains the leader of the Order of Merit, so he gets one of the two direct places for the final of the Alps Tour School.

The next appointment of the Gecko will be from December 1 to 3 at Torrequebrada Golf Club and El Parador de Málaga.
