The choice of Aloha Golf Club, a course of renowned prestige, renews the commitment to quality that emanates from the Costa del Sol, one of the most important destinations in Europe, to the point that it responds perfectly to the motto coined in its day – Costa del Sol, Costa del Golf – which has made this beautiful area of Spain famous.
Additionally, as part of its relationship with the Costa del Sol, this will be the sixth time in history that this renowned international tourist destination assumes the celebration of a Women’s Spanish Open after those played at Flamingos (2010), La Quinta (2011 and 2018), RCG Guadalmina (2015) and Aloha (2016 and 2019).
An event that has the sponsorship of Turismo Costa del Sol that, in addition to this, participates in important actions aimed at the golf segment in the last months of the year. Last September it was present at the Solheim Cup 2019 in Gleneagles (Scotland), where it organized the Costa del Sol Ambassador Cup Tournament and presented its candidacy to host the Solheim Cup 2023. And during these days, and until October 17, is publicizing the golf offer of the destination in the XXII edition of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) being held in Marrakech.

Aloha Golf Club, a great design by Javier Arana
Designed at the time by the prestigious Javier Arana -it was his last project before his death in 1975, shortly before work on the course was completed, so it can be considered his posthumous work, built by Garden & Golf-, Aloha Golf is home to one of the most beautiful and unique golf courses in Spain.
Parkland style, par 72, its design demands precision on the tee and a good approach to the green. An undulating terrain, colorful groves and lakes are, among other things, the peculiarities of Aloha Golf, in addition to spectacular views of the Sierra La Concha and the Mediterranean Sea.
The stamp of the designer Javier Arana was also reflected in the personal choice of the type of trees and plants that would populate the field, with the idea of being able to enjoy flowering trees at any time of the year.
Almost since its birth, in 1975, Aloha Golf has been closely linked to the world of high competition. In 1978 it hosted the Spanish Amateur Championship and in 1989 it held the II International Mixed Professional Golf Championship, in which Miguel Angel Jimenez and Xonia Wunsch were the winners.
In the present century, Aloha Golf has hosted the Open de Andalucía three times as part of the European Tour. In 2007 the Englishman Lee Westwood won after setting the course record with 64 strokes. Subsequently, in 2008, the victory went to the Ryder player Thomas Levet, while in 2012 the victory went to Julien Quesne, with a final round of 8 under par which, apart from the first place, allowed him to equal the course record.
