The Costa del Sol expects to increase visits from Spanish golfers

The Costa del Sol’s provincial tourism authorities have set themselves the goal in 2015 of recovering a 20% share of Spanish golf visitors. The two circuits that promote the Costa del Sol brand in Spain have already held eight events out of the 27 planned. The Spanish golf tourist has become a priority for Costa del Sol Tourism and this weekend the destination has participated in Madrid Golf Experience, the fair with national but also international presence.

The president of Turismo Costa del Sol, Elías Bendodo, has highlighted the offensive that the destination is carrying out during 2015 to attract and retain the national tourist golf enthusiast with the aim of raising its share five points in 2015: “Around 15% of all those who come to play golf at the destination are Spanish and the goal is that this percentage rises to 20%,” he said.

In addition, Bendodo said that the Costa del Sol is at a good time to achieve this share for two reasons: the forecast of those responsible for the golf courses in the province, which expect the best year in the last seven, and the excellent performance of domestic demand in the first quarter of 2015, which yielded 13% more hotel travelers and 17% more overnight stays.

The main action carried out this year by the Costa del Sol to encourage national golf tourism, that is, the two circuits that are developed by the publishing group Dirigentes and the company Gambito Golf, continue touring the Spanish geography and last April 24 another test of the Costa del Sol Dirigentes Premium by Gambito Golf Circuit was held at the Escorpión Golf Club located in Valencia. There, the second of the five tests aimed at senior executives of large companies based in Spain and that have a great prescriptive potential for the destination has been developed.

On the other hand, this weekend the seventh round of Costa del Sol Premium 2015 will also be held in the Madrid facilities of Golf Santander after passing through Malaga, Seville, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

These two circuits become the spearhead of the promotional offensive included in the action plan of Costa del Sol Tourism for 2015, as they offer full promotion in the autonomous communities with more members: Madrid (84,843), Andalusia (45,083), Catalonia (32,041), Valencia (19,669) and the Basque Country (18,455).
