Andalusia promotes its golf courses at the Madrid Golf fair

Andalusia, Europe’s leading golf tourist destination, will promote its offer for the practice of this sport at Madrid Golf from May 8 to 10. This specialized fair in the capital of Spain is a reference meeting of the golf segment in the country and received in its last edition more than 17,000 visitors between professionals and the general public.

In this case, Turismo Andaluz will have a 55 square meter stand, together with provincial tourism boards and the Andalusian Golf Federation, to show the destination’s offer to players interested in the region and to contact intermediaries specialized in this segment.

The Andalusian delegation will emphasize both complementary products and the range of golf courses in the community, which has 108 facilities — the largest concentration in continental Europe — that attracted a total of 452,000 golf tourists in 2013.

The Madrid market is the most important in the country for Andalusia after the community itself, with 268,192 travelers staying in hotels in the first three months of this year and 651,194 overnight stays, representing increases of 8.9 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

SPAIN, THE LARGEST ISSUER FOR ANDALUSIA

Spain is the largest issuer for the region, with 1.7 million travelers staying in hotels during the first quarter, who made a total of 3.8 overnight stays, up 9.2 percent and 13.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
