Winners in the main international circuits, winners of the order of merit of the LET (current Race to Costa del Sol), players of the European team of the Solheim Cup… All of them are on the international list of golfers who will participate from 26 to 29 November in the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, 60.The second Ladies European Tour tournament to be held in Spain will be headed by Azahara Muñoz, the only Spaniard to have won this competition to date, and Emily Kristine Pedersen, the undisputed leader of the Race to Costa del Sol with three titles to her credit this year.
Escorting the honorary member of the host club will be seventeen other Spaniards (Nuria Iturrios, María Hernández, Luna Sobrón, María Parra, Marta Sanz, Carmen Alonso, Mireia Prat, María Beautell, Patricia Sanz, Noemí Jiménez, Elia Folch, Laura Gómez, Silvia Bañón, Harang Lee, Marta Martín, Natasha Fear, and amateur Ana Peláez, thirteen of them with international victories to their credit, Elia Folch, Laura Gómez, Silvia Bañón, Harang Lee, Marta Martín, Natasha Fear, and the amateur Ana Peláez), thirteen of them already with international victories in their track records and combining veteran, youth, quality and strength in their ranks.
Azahara Muñoz, double winner of the tournament (in 2016 and 2017, an edition also held at Guadalmina), has a spectacular track record at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, as she has four top-5s in six participations and leads the list of cumulative earnings in this competition.
Among the remarkable local team is also obliged to highlight the presence of Carmen Alonso, who despite her recent physical problems did not want to miss the only Ladies European Tour tournament to be played this year in Spain. The player from Valladolid is also the only Spaniard to have played in all seventeen editions held to date (two of them as an amateur) since the event became part of the LET in 2002.
It is also worth mentioning the amateur Ana Peláez, who recently won the Santander Golf Tour event played at Golf Santander and who has achieved other important victories (such as the Copa Andalucía) in a difficult year in which she decided to postpone her move to the professional ranks. Peláez will strive to equal an illustrious record, since to date the only amateur who has managed to finish in the top ten of the Spanish Open has been Carlota Ciganda, who did it twice: 2007 (8th) and 2009 (9th).
In addition to ours, there are 78 international players, including thirteen English, eight Swedish, seven German, seven Scottish and six French golfers.
It is worth mentioning the participation of the current outstanding leader of the Race to Costa del Sol, the Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen, who is having a stellar season and who achieved last weekend her third victory of the year by winning the Aramco Saudi Ladies International. In addition, three players who have won the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit (Esther Henseleit in 2019, Beth Allen in 2016 and Lee-Anne Pace in 2010), five golfers who have defended the European colors in the Solheim Cup (Azahara Muñoz, Caroline Hedwall, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Florentyna Parker and Linda Wessberg) will also be in Guadalmina, 28 winners in the LET (led by South African Lee-Anne Pace, with nine victories (one of them, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in 2010), Swedish Caroline Hedwall, with six, and Azahara Muñoz, with five) and 34 winners in the LET Access Series, an essential promotional circuit as a springboard for European golfers.
All of them will compete on the south course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina to close the season in the best possible way, lifting the beautiful trophy designed by David Marshall, sculptor based in Benahavís, in an Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España that has a prize purse of 600,000 € and will also serve as a climax for the Race to Costa del Sol, the order of merit of the LET.
