Turismo Costa del Sol has issued a new video in support of the Soheim Cup 2023, in which the Marbella golfer Noemi Jimenez says that for her Finca Cortesin means “family” and the Solheim Cup 2023, “a dream”. In the video, Noemí Jiménez recalls her beginnings in golf, her career and her dreams while she walks through some of the holes of the course that will host this great competition.
“From the moment I found out that the Solheim Cup was being played at Finca, I see it with different eyes. Every time I’m on the 18th hole I can imagine all the spectators around me,” said Noemí Jiménez, who confessed that “sometimes I joke with my father. Every time we come and I play the 18th hole, I tell him to imagine that this is to win with Europe. It’s going to be incredible”.
The Ladies European Tour player started playing when she was just 6 years old. With a mother who was a black belt in karate and a father who was a professional golfer, it was almost inevitable that she would take up golf. “I remember it was my father who got me into golf. I am who I am because of golf. I really carry that memory throughout my life,” Jimenez said.
“When I was 10 years old I thought I was a good player. I joined the national team when I was 14 and that’s when I started dreaming, I dreamed of going to the United States, I dreamed of winning tournaments and when I was in the US, in college, I wanted to become a professional player, it was really then when I thought I could be good at the sport,” recalled the player from Marbella.
During the video Noemí Jiménez also talks about her admiration for her teammate Azahara Muñoz, a great golfer and a role model for her. “Azahara was definitely for me from the beginning a kind of role model. And for me it was a dream come true to go to the same university as her. And I always followed her how she was playing, how she was going to the same college that I wanted to go to, how she turned pro and how she’s succeeding right now,” she said.
Another important aspect that Noemí highlighted in the video is her connection with Finca Cortesín, of which she is an ambassador, and which has been chosen as the venue for this international team competition that will bring together Europe and the United States on Spanish soil for the first time in the history of the tournament from September 18 to 24, 2023.
“I didn’t know the Solheim would be played at the Farm. So when the news broke I was surprised and very excited. I know this is a great golf course and a great venue for an event as big as the Solheim Cup. I have been an ambassador for Finca Cortesin for 6 years and it will be like a dream come true, really, to be on the European team and play for Europe, and especially with Finca, which was my first sponsor when I turned professional,” said Jimenez.
For the player from Malaga, another great dream would be to be with Azahara Muñoz and Laura Gómez playing the Solheim Cup. “To be Azahara, Laura and I playing the Solheim together would be incredible, especially because we know each other very well and having them on the team would be great. And, hopefully, this will happen in 2023.”
On the other hand, Noemí Jiménez has assured that the Costa del Sol is different from any place she has been before. “I have traveled a lot to different places and there is nothing like the Costa del Sol. When people come for the Solheim Cup to the Costa del Sol they are going to enjoy many things, like the food, the people, the atmosphere, the climate, the mountains and the sea, and beautiful landscapes all around. I think it is the perfect place to live and the perfect place to visit. And once you have visited, you will stay forever. I’m pretty sure of that,” concluded the Marbella player.
