The Junta de Andalucía promotes the autonomous community as a golf destination

The seventh edition of the tournament ‘Andalusia in Summer’, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, was held at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla with the participation of a dozen tour operators specialized in this segment and representatives of the Andalusian golf offer and media.

This is a promotional action whose first edition took place in Madrid and since then has been rotating through different Andalusian provinces, with the aim of publicizing the offer of golf courses in the community to specialized agents and thus increase the number of visitors who come to the region motivated by the practice of this sport.

During the two days prior to the tournament, a ‘fam trip’ was held in which the tour operators, all of them national and members of travel agencies and organizers specialized in the segment, visited Club de Golf Hato Verde, Club Zaudín Golf and Real Club Pineda.

Likewise, a welcome cocktail was held in the capital of Seville as a networking activity prior to the tournament with the participation of Andalusian businessmen from different golf courses together with a selection of operators and the media. Tourism of the Province of Seville (Prodetur) also collaborated in this promotional activity.

Half a million travelers

Andalusia receives annually more than half a million travelers attracted by golf tourism, with an accumulated growth of 25% in the last five years. In addition, the community has the highest concentration of facilities in continental Europe and 20% of the national total: 102 courses, half of which are located in the province of Malaga and just over 20% in the province of Cadiz.

According to the last Golf Tourism Study in Andalusia, 40% of tourists in this segment came from the United Kingdom, followed by Spaniards (15%) and Germans (12%).

Spending by visitors stood at 117.5 euros per tourist per day, almost double that recorded for the general traveler, and with an average stay of 10.8 days, exceeding the average for all visitors. In addition, the destination achieved an outstanding rating, with a score of 9.2 out of 10, the highest ever recorded.
