European Tour officials have visited the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla to supervise the preparation of the course for the Reale Seguros Open de España 2012, a tournament of the European Professional Tour that will take place from May 3 to 6 with the main sponsorship of Reale Seguros and the support as co-sponsors of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía and Turespaña. The technical report reflects that the Seville course is in optimum condition thanks to the continuous work carried out by the staff of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, well aware that one of the keys to the success of the previous editions of this Open held in Seville (2008 and 2010) was the magnificent condition of the golf course, whose quality was highly praised by all the participants. This was confirmed by the delegation of European Tour representatives present in Seville, made up of Miguel Vidaor, tournament director, and Eugene Hennessy, PGA European Tour agronomist, who held a meeting with Diego Peñapareja, greenkeeper of the RFEG’s Green Section Committee, and Eugenio Escribano, greenkeeper of the Seville club.
After this visit, Miguel Vidaor, director of the Reale Seguros Open de España, highlighted the excellent work that Eugenio Escribano and his team have been doing at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. “The course has improved a lot since the last visit in February. All the playing surfaces are in excellent condition and only manicuring work remains to make the course perfectly ready for the Open de España,” he said.
Regarding the condition of the fairways, according to Miguel Vidaor, “those that have been narrowed have been very good (holes 1, 5, 9). In addition, the fairways on holes 6 (left of the drive drop) and 16 (right of the drive drop) will be narrowed a little more”.
For all these reasons, the tournament director of the Reale Seguros Open de España assures that “the course will be in excellent condition for the competition, as has always been the case at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla”.
On the other hand, throughout the month of April the promotion of the Reale Seguros Open de España in Seville is expected to be intensified. The city of Seville will host numerous recreational and promotional activities so that the Open reaches all the citizens of the Andalusian capital, which is hosting this tournament for the third time.
The different public administrations – Andalusian Government, Seville Provincial Council, Seville and Alcalá de Guadairía City Councils, Turespaña – will be involved in these activities as active collaborators of this Reale Seguros Open de España Masculino hosted by the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, an event with a proven international projection that will project the image of Seville and Andalusia in its television broadcast, with an estimated circulation of more than 400 million viewers worldwide.
