The RCG Sotogrande dazzles again in the Andalucia Golf Challenge Circuit Destination Dominican Republic

The extraordinary Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, undoubtedly one of the best courses in Spain and Europe, has hosted with great success the thirteenth meeting of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe, open amateur championship circuit that this year celebrates its tenth edition and is played in eighteen excellent courses, among which are several of the most prestigious in the country. This Circuit, organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf, has as its grand final prize five nine-day trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

The good weather accompanied the two days of the tournament, fortunately not making its appearance the dreaded wind of the Strait. The players enjoyed both the magnificent Robert Trent Jones senior design and the sensational maintenance and condition of the course.

Apart from the prizes of each tournament (premium branded clothing from the store Fairway+Blue in Puerto Banús, wines D.O. Somontano, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the first three classified in each category plus the scratch winner of each tournament get a place to play the grand final of the Circuit (Atalaya Old, November 21) and thus opt for one of the five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic.

As regards the sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Alejandro Martínez Arasso (37 points), followed by Juan Delgado Zambrano (36), and Feliciano García Barragán (34). Alejandro Martínez Arasso and Feliciano García Barragán were already qualified for the final of the Circuit. The fourth classified, Francisco López Castro, and curiously the seventh, José Román Bonilla Rubio, obtained a place for the final, since the fifth classified, Juan Enrique Martínez Huot, is classified as scratch winner, and the sixth, Adrián Bonilla Ramírez, is a minor and is not entitled to a prize.

In the second category, Jose María Delgado Aymat won with 41 points. In second place, with 40 points, was Jesús Castillo Aguilar, while third place went to Dennis Diaconescu, who scored 36 points.

In scratch category, the winner was, as mentioned, Juan Enrique Martínez Huotwith 30 scratch points.

The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Rafael Fontán Zubizarreta, and the prizes for the longest drive were won by Myriam García Alegre and Álvaro Ballesteros Blanco.

The next event of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahia Principe Circuit is the 10 Octoberin Santa Clara Granada.

The top three in each category plus the scratch winner qualify for the Grand Final, where five nine-day all-inclusive trips to the Playa Nueva Romana resort of Bahía Príncipe in the Dominican Republic with golf at Ocean’s 4, Punta Espada and Teeth of The Dog will be decided. The top two finishers in each category and the scratch winner of the Grand Final will travel to the Dominican Republic.
