
More than 220 attendees, including golf course directors, companies collaborating with the Spanish Association of Golf Managers, speakers and lecturers met on November 25, 26 and 27 at the Parador Malaga Golf to celebrate the X Congress and National Championship of Golf Managers.
The Junta de Andalucía through the Ministry of Tourism, main sponsor, together with the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, the RFEG and the RFGA participated and collaborated in the congress.
At the same time, more than 25 collaborating companies of the AEGG were present at the congress participating in the networking time between directors and collaborating companies. Companies such as GolfSpain, Green Fee Revenue, Holiday Golf, AB Parts Machines, Polace Golf, Greenmowers, John Deere (Delta Cinco, Agronimer and Vernis-Taberner Equips), Diseyma Golf, ICL-SYNGENTA, Ora e Cars, Maui Jim Sunglasses, Riversa, Rainbird, Jerigolf, Fertinyect, GreenFee365, Bettergy, Golfmanager, AC Solutions, MC Biofertilizantes, Golf Gestión y Formación, Gestión Golf-Aplicaciones Tecnológicas Alcazar, Powacaddy, Green Car, Nexchange attended the event and were able to show the directors their latest services and products.
The congress began on Monday with the inauguration by the president of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, Pablo Mansilla, the manager of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Jorge Sagardoy, both sponsors of the event, and the vice president of the Spanish Golf Association, Marcos Lería.
Once again this year, Maria Acacia López Bachiller introduced the speakers and the first speaker of the afternoon, Javier Reviriego, general manager of the Real Club Valderrama, who opened the congress with the lecture “Keys to the organization of a major professional tournament. The role of the manager”.
The end of Javier Reviriego’s presentation gave way to the presentation of four success stories by Marcos Lería, director of Club de Golf Escorpión: How to be a social and family club of reference; Francisco Martos, director of Los Moriscos Golf: How to achieve a 360º experience focused on service and adapted to the customer; Ignacio del Cuvillo, director of R.C.G. Guadalmina: The transformation of Sociedad Anónima into a Sports Club after 30 years of Management; and Xavi Gibelalde, marketing director of the RFEG: The success of the Friends Cup and the campaigns to groups for golf courses.
Also on Monday, the networking time between collaborating companies and golf course managers took place. Meetings of 15 minutes duration were held and already pre-established for the presentation of services and products of interest to golf course managers. These spaces also took place throughout the morning and afternoon of Tuesday, November 26th.
Monday afternoon was closed by José Carlos Gaspar, director of sales, PR, social marketing and CSR at Unicaja Málaga, with the presentation “Four rooms that help you to improve your image and increase your sales”.
On Tuesday, the presentations began early in the morning. The first one by Toni Mascaró. Founder and director of eMascaró, a leading company in the digital services sector for more than 15 years, who spoke about “Digital transformation, challenges and opportunities for the golf sector”.
This presentation gave way to Domenec Biosca, who entitled his presentation: Lead your personal and professional growth by properly managing the resources at your disposal. The skills-attitudes that are demanded today from a good manager”.
After the morning networking space, the managing director of Elche Club de Futbol, Patricia Rodriguez Barrios presented “The formula for success in the management of a sports company.
At 13:00 with the arrival of the local and national communication MMCC the official photo of the X National Congress of Golf Managers was made, lunch was served. Of course we had the presence of Nuria Rodriguez, Provincial Delegate of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía in Malaga, and Margarita del Cid, vice president of the Diputación de Málaga, both collaborating entities in the X National Congress of Golf Managers.
In the afternoon, Alejandro Ponce de León, lawyer at Triay & Triay Lawyers spoke to us about the types of contracts for managers, obligations, rights… and much more Daniel Asís and Alberto Iglesias illustrated the importance of training for our professional development.
On the 27th at 8:30 in the morning began the National Championship of Golf Managers in which finally participated about 100 players and was won by Alfonso Castañeira, and Francisco Javier Vázquez in second category, being the scratch winner, Alfonso Castañeira himself,
It was also announced by Javier Ramirez, general manager of Greenmowers and main sponsor of the Spanish-Portuguese Ryder Cup, the venue for next year’s event, in Ponte de Lima, in the northern part of Portugal.
The awards ceremony and gift raffle concluded the X Congress of Golf Managers, which has had more representation so far.
