In his good times he got to charge -at least that is what was said- three million dollars for access to play in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Now times are different, Tiger Woods is not the same and his cache to attend the tournament in the Emirates has dropped considerably, although it is still a succulent pinch: there is talk of just over a million dollars. Even so, with this economic incentive, the Californian has not started the tournament well and closed his first round with 77 strokes. Evil tongues attribute this to the fact that the American star had to travel, for the first time in ten years, on a commercial flight from the United States to the Emirates. And the jet lag is not the same as when you travel by private plane.
The good news is that Sergio Garcia has started the tournament with a round of 65 strokes and, at the time of writing this information, when the first round at the Emirates Golf Club has not yet finished, he was the leader in the clubhouse. Two other Spaniards, Nacho Elvira and Jorge Campillo were fourth and eighth, respectively, with 67 and 68 strokes.
