TripAdvisor distinguishes Mijas Golf for its excellence

The quality and popularity of Mijas Golf International is once again recognized by having received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award. This award, now in its fifth year of existence, highlights excellence in establishments and accommodations and is only awarded to businesses that consistently achieve top rankings on TripAdvisor.

The Certificate of Excellence winners include accommodations, restaurants and attractions located around the world that have continuously delivered a superior customer experience.

To select certificates of Excellence winners, TripAdvisor uses a proprietary algorithm to determine award recipients that takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews and opinions submitted by TripAdvisor travelers over a 12-month period, as well as the business’s ownership and popularity index ranking on the site. To distinguish a business, it must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble (star) rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence “is a real source of pride for the whole team at Mijas Golf International and we would like to thank all our guests who bothered to complete a review on TripAdvisor,” says Lorenzo Pérez Cortés, managing director of the prestigious Costa del Sol club, which has two 18-hole courses: Los Lagos and Los Olivos, both designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones.

“There is no greater seal of approval,” he continues, “than to be recognized by customers with this top ranking. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, we are honored and given a remarkable vote of confidence in our business and encouraged in our continued commitment to excellence.”

“TripAdvisor is pleased to honor exceptional hospitality businesses that have received ongoing praise and recognition from travelers on the site,” says Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for Business.

“By putting the spotlight on businesses that focus on delivering great customer service, TripAdvisor not only helps drive the rise of hospitality standards around the world, but also gives businesses both large and small the ability to shine and stand out from the competition.”

The Gecko Tour, in Mijas Golf

The Gecko Tour, the winter professional circuit that takes place on the Costa del Sol, will have one of its appointments in Mijas Golf next season (2015/16). The appointment will be from 14 to 16 December, a three-day tournament to be played on the two courses of the complex: Los Lagos and Los Olivos. It will be the last event of the first part of the Gecko, that is to say, an appointment in which many things can be decided.

Mijas Golf debuts in the Gecko calendar, a step forward that the Costa del Sol club welcomes with great enthusiasm. “It means an impact on national publicity. Mijas Golf, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year 2016, is well known in Europe, especially in countries such as England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, etc.. All of them have been supplying Mijas Golf with clients for the past four decades. However, golf at national level, although much more developed today, was hardly practiced a couple of decades ago, so it is of great importance to make ourselves known among the national public, who follow the circuit through television and other national advertising media,” says Lorenzo Pérez Cortés.
